Admissions

Acceptance into the freshman class is based on a satisfactory score on the placement exam, grade school records, and on the recommendations of the grade school principal and teachers.

Financial Aid

Tuition assistance based on need is available for students from funds raised by alumni and friends of Central Catholic, the Bishop's Education Fund, and the E.I.T.C. Program. Click here for the 2008-2009 Aid Application. This one application accounts for all three funding sources.

8th Grade Visits to Central Catholic

Each year Central Catholic invites the 8th grade boys from designated Catholic grade schools ("feeder" or "partner" schools) to spend a day at Central. Central Catholic will coordinate that visit with those grade schools (listed below) and provide the transportation to and from Central Catholic High School.

Central Catholic "Partner" schools include:
Carlow Campus School, Christ the Divine Teacher, Good Shepherd, Holy Rosary, Immaculate Conception, Sacred Heart, St. Agnes, St. Bartholomew, St. Bede, St. Benedict the Moor, St. Bernadette, St. Irenaeus, St. James, St. John Neumann, St. John the Baptist, St. Joseph, St. Maurice, St. Raphael, St. Rosalia, St. Stephen, St. Therese, and Word of God.

If your 8th grade son attends a public school or a Catholic grade school not listed above, and would like to spend a day at Central Catholic, please call 412-621-7505. Individual visits will be scheduled throughout the 8th grade year begining in late-October.

Transfer Students

Students applying for the tenth or eleventh grade will be evaluated on the basis of their report card, standardized testing, and recommendations from their present principal. An interview may also be required. Students applying for the 10th or 11th grade must have a 75% or higher in all of their academic courses to be considered for admission.

Central Catholic does not accept senior transfers. Students may not transfer into Central Catholic once the school year has started. Transfer Applications are available on this site from February to July.

Tuition

Tuition for the 2008-2009 school year is $7,400 for students who are members of a Catholic parish. Tuition for students who are not members of a Catholic parish is $8,100. Tuition may be paid in ten monthly payments.

Open House

The annual Open House for prospective families will take place on Sunday, November 2, 2008 from 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM. Prior registration is not needed. This will be the only Open House during the 2008-2009 school year.

Placement Test

The placement test for incoming freshmen (Class of 2013) will be administered at the school on Saturday, December 13, 2008 (for the 2009-2010 school year). Registration for this test will begin in October 2008. All 8th grade students applying for 9th grade (Class of 2013) MUST take this test.
